Join us at the South Carolina State Museum for a special evening reception as we celebrate the grand reopening of the Lipscomb Art Gallery and unveil, From the Vault: Art from the Museum’s Collection, a new exhibition exploring the creative voices that have shaped our state’s visual culture.

After more than two years of renovations and gallery enhancements, we’re excited to welcome visitors back into this revitalized space with a powerful display of 75–100 works drawn from the museum’s extensive collection. Spanning centuries and featuring a wide range of mediums and styles, the exhibition highlights artists and artisans with deep ties to South Carolina, including recent acquisitions and longtime collection treasures.

From handcrafted furniture and pottery to portraits, abstract works, and self-taught creations, From the Vault showcases the richness and diversity of South Carolina’s cultural legacy.

Whether you’re a longtime supporter of the arts or discovering the collection for the first time, this event is a chance to engage with the stories, traditions, and creative energy that define the Palmetto State.

Museum staff and curators will be present to share insights and answer questions throughout the evening. Light refreshments will be served.

This event is free to the public and open to  Artist Homecoming participants.
