Established by South Carolina Governor John C. West in 1973, the South Carolina Museum Commission has stewarded the State Museum through 50 effective and thoughtful years of service to the State. The Commission is comprised of 10 members, each appointed by the Governor; a Chairperson, two at-large members, and seven members each representing one of South Carolina’s congressional districts. The Museum’s Executive Director serves as an ex-officio member.
