Bio
Tonia Johnson Alston has been the Chief of Public Safety at the South Carolina State Museum since 2001. In her role she is responsible for the daily coordination of the security of the museum’s collections and exhibitions. This includes managing the museum’s security systems, problems, overseeing the administrative duties of the department, monitoring the Communications Operations Control Center, CCTV Monitors, maintain a relationship with other law enforcement agencies and communicating building and fire problems to General Services.
Chief Johnson Alston is a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. She holds a Bachelor of Science and a Minor in Social Work from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Arts in Human Resources Development. She enjoys traveling, shopping and attending her sorority meetings.
