Tyler Pitts
Bio
Tyler joined the South Carolina State Museum exhibition team in 2018. He says, “I thought it was pretty cool to work at a place that I have been visiting since I was six years old.”
Before coming to the State Museum, he worked as a carpenter and locksmith at The University of South Carolina. Working as a carpenter at the museum has allowed him to be more creative while applying the trade skills he’s developed over the years when designing and fabricating display cases and other 3/D exhibit elements for the State Museum and many other state agencies, including the South Carolina State House, Historic Columbia, SC Military Museum, DNR, Savanah River Sire Museum, SC River Alliance and many more.
A recent project that he’s very proud of is the guitar replica the exhibitions team fabricated for local Blues legend, “Drink Small.” In his down time away from the museum, he enjoys working in his yard, fishing, going to concerts, hanging out with his dogs, and travelling with his wife. “I also have a constant list of projects around the house that keep me busy when I’m not at work.”
